Garden Core - The Strength to use all tools all day

The Difference

How is GardenCore different than other fitness programs?

Now that is a really good question, glad you asked!

GardenCore starts with the positive in mind.
For sure, bodies can benefit from unlimited possibilities of movement.

How about if you could train the body to move exactly how you move in the yard and garden?

Guess what?

YOU CAN!

Everyone wants core strength these days, even if they are unsure of what it truly means…it is a buzz word and it sounds good.  The partner to this is stability…how do you hold onto yourself and stay grounded? Think about it…when you are raking, the rake is only the tool, an important one nevertheless; however, if you are not holding onto yourself, holding onto the ground, using that core power, you have no base from which to operate. Everything that you do comes from the core…everything. It comes from grounding yourself first.

The movement plan relies heavily on the sensibility of two disciplines: Pilates and functional fitness. First, let’s brief you in on functional fitness: it is about training your body how to handle real life situations and designing the appropriate plan. The key to functional fitness is integration of muscle groups, rather than isolating them independently.  Functional fitness is not new; it has been around for a long time…it’s just packaged as a nice word.  That’s okay, if you understand it.

Our training in Pilates, the 90 year old method,  gives the program its foundation of control, centering, concentration, flowing motion and breath. The core in Pilates is a given and an education in and of itself.

The formula for GardenCore goes like this: using the 6 principles of Pilates we lay the groundwork for embodying the movement patterns. After all, you are asking your body to establish new and/or better neuro-muscular patterns.

We integrate the real-life situation of gardening and yard work (functional fitness) in every season that has you out and about. The training program that you do inside teaches you identical movement patterns that are used in all activities.

We use very little ‘equipment’ and our circuit training approach prepares you to get stronger & to move with better versatility when you are passionately involved in moving every which way but tight and boring.

This is where we begin, with the positive in mind.

This is our difference.
